Generic Famvir

 

Generic Famvir Famciclovir is an anti-virus drug, active against viruses of human herpes. This medicine decreases frankness and durability of post-herpetic ne+uralgia in patients with zoster.

Before using this drug a patient should acquaint himself with the following information:

Do not use Generic Famvir Famciclovir if you are allergic to any ingredient in Famvir or to penciclovir. This drug should be avoided in patients having galactose intolerance, severe lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose absorption problems.

Some medical conditions may create serious impact with Famvir. Before using this drug, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. You should also inform if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement. This medicine should not be used if you have kidney problems.

Famvir may create drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may get worsen if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. So use it with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.

Do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed, unless your condition will not improve faster but the risk of side effects may be increased. Contact your doctor if your condition does not get better or worsens.

Famvir does not cure genital herpes. It will not prevent the infection from spreading the virus to others. To decrease the chance of infecting your partner, avoid having sexual intercourse when sores are present. It may also be possible to spread the virus even if you do not currently have signs or symptoms of herpes. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor.

This medicine needs to be use with caution in the elder people; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially delirium, disorientation, and confusion.

In children younger than 18 years old, caution is needed while administering it. Safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.

If you become pregnant, make contact with your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using this medication while you are pregnant. It is not revealed whether Famvir is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use it, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

Ask your health care provider if Famvir may interact with other medicines that you take. Other drugs such as Probenecid (Benemid) may reduce the kidney's removal of famciclovir leading to higher concentrations of famciclovir in the blood. This may cause side effects from famciclovir. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
